Vecima Wins Two 2020 Broadband Technology Report (BTR) Diamond Technology Review Awards

October 14, 2020

Victoria, B.C. – (October 14, 2020) – Vecima Networks Inc. (TSX:VCM) announced today it has won two 2020 Broadband Technology Report (BTR) Diamond Technology Review awards: one for the Entra™ EN2112 Access Node and one for the Terrace™ IQ Commercial Video Gateway. Highly reputable in the cable and telecom industry, the awards are based on a variety of criteria, including unique technological innovation, ease-of-use, efficiency, reliability, and contribution to profitability, and is judged by panel of executives from operators such as Buckeye, Comcast, Charter, Cox, Mediacom, and Rogers.

The EN2112 Access Node is a high density, compact 2-port node. Built to ensure global standards compliance, maximum CCAP core interoperability, industry-leading feature sets, massive scale and ongoing reliability for next generation DOCSIS 3.1 Distributed Access Architecture (“DAA”) ecosystems, the EN2112 is one of the most compact and feature rich Remote PHY nodes available today. Vecima’s EN2112 bridges the new 10G digital fiber CIN networks and the legacy RF coax plant. Supporting architectures that push fiber deeper in the network, the EN2112 allows operators to leverage existing network capacity and deliver increased bandwidth to subscribers.

“The EN2112 adheres to CableLabs standards with proven interoperability and allows operators to enjoy the same flexibility they had with analog nodes, while enjoying the advantages of DAA,” said Scott Raaf, Vice President of Product Management, Video and Broadband Solutions at Vecima. “Fully built with technologies that support cable’s migration to 10G, the EN2112 provides operators increased capacity and service speeds, all while maximizing ROI.”

Terrace IQ is a highly integrated Commercial Video Gateway that is installed at the customer premise and serves as the demarcation between the service provider’s network and the customer’s private video network. Video is received via IP delivery, decrypted and demultiplexed. The video is then optionally transcoded from MPEG-4 AVC / h.264 to MPEG-2 video to support legacy devices. The video streams are remultiplexed into a custom channel lineup for the premise and output with QAM modulation directly to televisions without the need for set top boxes.

“Terrace IQ enables seamless migration to next-generation video delivery technologies with minimal hardware investments when migrating away from traditional architectures,” said Kai Meisen, Director of Product Management, Video and Broadband Solutions at Vecima. “Designed to be deployed in large numbers cost effectively, Terrace IQ simplifies a complicated technology transition landscape. To allow for operational ease and CapEx spending efficiency, all deployed Terrace QAM platforms can be easily upgraded to Terrace IQ.”
