Simplifying XGS-PON deployments for Broadband Service Providers with Vecima’s vPON Manager

Broadband Service Providers (BSPs) worldwide have guided Vecima’s development and introduction of Entra® vPON Manager, which delivers the provisioning, fault, configuration, and overall observability and analytics that form the cornerstone of a modern ITU PON access network today.

Entra vPON Manager, launched at the 2025 Fiber Connect and ANGA COM conferences earlier this year, is Vecima’s newest innovation in SDN-based control, giving operators robust XGS-PON subscriber managem ent and service provisioning capabilities, plus back-office management integration with telemetry support, and with a simplified, interactive web user interface.

It integrates seamlessly with BSPs’ back-office management tools and incorporates a cloud-native microservices architecture that works across integrated and disaggregated Vecima PON solutions.

Vecima’s vPON Manager is a cloud-native set of microservices that are deployable with many cloud compute options, including on-premises solutions such as Vecima’s Entra Cloud™ or via the public cloud.

Designed from the ground up, leveraging industry-standard APIs, all features of the solution are accessible through a REST open API, including access to raw telemetry that can come directly from Kafka streaming methodologies.

To mirror familiar cable network deployments such as Cable Service Groups and MAC Domains, Vecima vPON Manager incorporated a core design concept we refer to as the PON Service Group.

PON Service groups enable operators to deploy the management and control in a manner that’s consistent with the PON network assets in each deployed market.

PON Service Group deployment, coupled with Vecima’s Zero Touch feature for OLT controller discovery and subscriber onboarding, creates an industry-leading, simplified, and minimal step model for creating subscribers and the products they buy for gigabit symmetric service enablement.

With vPON Manager’s dynamic PON subscriber device provisioning, a subscriber is defined as a member of a product, products are quickly created for the services with quality-of-service attributes that are being sold, subscribers are then associated with a product and an ONU device from inventory is correlated. And just like that, in four easy steps, the ONU attaches to the PON Access Network, provisioning is complete, and the subscriber can be in a symmetrical gigabit or multi-gigabit service!

Creating and defining PON subscriber service products, as well as assigning subscribers, is incredibly simple with Vecima’s vPON Manager.

In addition to Vecima’s vPON Manager’s simplified XGS-PON access network provisioning, management, and troubleshooting model, this easy-to-integrate management system supports firmware management, multiple third-party ONU onboarding, and an easy-to-use dashboard for broad PON service observability.
